It is a rather interesting thing that the judgemental nature of the Pakistanis is inherently built into the language they speak. Case in point: The judgement one makes when one is faced with the choice of using either 'tum' or 'aap'. Of course, taking into account (and discounting, I suppose) the situation where these two words are used to differentiate between the elderly and the young, one always has the choice of being disrespectful or giving 'izzat' - essentially a personal judgement call.
Contrast this with the neutrally elegant 'you' in english and all of your problems are solved. The lack of habitually compartmentalizing others is a rather useful facility the English speaker enjoys.
The fork of choice: Ironic symbolism pointing towards to a greater social pattern? You be the judge.
The Good: Biking every morning while simultaneously watching DS9 Episodes
The Bad: Getting bored of DS9 Episodes 5 minutes into it.
The Ugly: Getting bored of biking 5 minutes into it.
Lines of the week:
Kevin on Ralph Lauren's Safari: This is absolutely one of the best colognes I own. What ever happened to the times when men smelled like men, and not pussies?
Arif: this cam rules, it has this de-uglifying effect.
